
Sophomores JUMPED into directions last week with frogs. This week, they've been ROOTING through pig organs. Here you see them measuring small intestines.





THURSDAY, MAY 17: This great group of Sophomores enjoyed a cookout at my house. I'm so proud of these guys. They worked hard with their enchilada fundraiser, rolling over 2700 enchiladas!! They deserved this evening of food and fun!! Love these guys!!-Mr. Wise



FRIDAY, MAY 18: Dexter Track and Field competed in their Regional at Burlington. There were a couple who came very close to making State: Ellie Boatman placed 6th in the 400m and Triple Jump; and Kyndel Randall placed 6th in the 100m hurdles and 5th in the 300m hurdles. Great Season Ladies!!
For the boys, Morgan Carson placed 2nd in 300m hurdles qualifying for State. He will run prelims on Friday at Wichita State around 4:45pm. Good Luck Morgan!

This week, students in fifth grade dissected owl pellets. Students made observations and categorized each bone using an identification chart. After the dissection, students commented on how surprised they were to find so many bones intact! We all agreed that owl’s are fascinating creatures!

YESTERDAY: Continuing at the Awards Assembly, Tyler Vogele received Best of Show in Metals with his smoker, Overall Outstanding Metal Worker, Overall Best of Show (Smoker) and Mr. Kuntz's award for Overall Outstanding Shop Student of the Year. Other awards included Arik Artherton Runner-up Overall Best of Show for his coffin; Alana Long received Runner-up for Best Scroll Saw for her Girrafes and Jamie Freedman received Best HS Scroll Saw for her Lighthouse.

YESTERDAY: Continuing at the Awards Assembly, Mr. Kuntz honored High School Fine Arts students who received awards on their projects. Avery Vaden received Best of Show Drafting, Overall Outstanding Draftsman and Best of show in Woods. Also, Marissa Bratcher recieved Overall Outstanding Woodworker and Best Wood or Metal Art.

YESTERDAY: At the grade 6-12 Awards Assembly, Mr. Kuntz honored 8th Grade Fine Arts students who received awards on their projects. Best JH Scroll Saw: Justice Casebolt (Cheetah), Runner-up Best JH Project: Alysa Overby (2 Night Stands), Best of Show JH: Carlee Potter (Oak Chest).

YESTERDAY: At the grades 6-12 Awards Assembly, Mr. Criss honored students who had either a 3.5 to 3.7 or 3.7 to 4.0 cumulative GPA in high school. Gold honors (3.7 to 4.0) were Freshman: Ethan Wallace, Avery Vaden, Kyndel Randall, Josie Gage, Essie Boatman; Sophomores: Clayton Henderson, Allyssa Vaden, Dani Smith, Emma Boatman; Juniors: Jeanie Gage, Alana Long, Logan Wallace; Seniors: Marissa Bratcher and Ellie Boatman. Silver honors (3.5 to 3.7) were Freshman: Cole Criss, Hannah Overby; Sophomores: Chika Suzuki, Arik Artherton, Devin Catlin, Amanda Priddy; Juniors: Morgan Carson and Kyl Kuntz. Congratulations and Great job!!

We would like to wish this senior congratulations on graduating, and thank her for being an awesome aide in 1st and 2nd grade all year. We will miss her a lot! We love you Miss Ellie!


Spartans win by run rule in the regional semi-finals 10-0 to advance to the Championship game against West Elk...winner takes all and qualifies to the 2–A State Tournament next week.

TODAY: HS Lady Spartan Softball will continue their Regional game from last night starting at 2:00pm. They were winning in the 5th inning 11-9 against Central. If they win, they play immediately after. GOOD LUCK!!

FRIDAY, MAY 11: HS Spartan Track and Field traveled to Oxford for the SCBL meet. Here are the results from it: Ellie Boatman placed 2nd in Long Jump, 4th in Triple Jump, 7th in the 200m and 4th in the 400m; Essie placed 6th in the 400m and 800m; Robyn Dale placed 5th in the 200m and 7th in the 100m; Kaylee Haden placed 6th in the 100m Hurdles and 7th in the 300m Hurdles; Kyndel Randall was league Champ in the 100m Hurdles, then placed 5th in the 100m and 300m Hurdles; and Reagan placed 3rd in the 1600m and 5th in Javelin. For the Boys, Morgan Carson placed 3rd in the 300m Hurdles; Brogan Meyers placed 7th in the Disc.; and Braden Snyder was league Champ in the Javilen. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!

YESTERDAY: These four, windy, Advanced Biology students measured their lung capacity as they learned about the respiratory system.



SUNDAY, MAY 6: Senior Ellie Boatman was a recipient of the Governor's Scholar Award in Topeka. The top 1% of Senior students in all school within Kansas received this award. Congratulations Ellie on your outstanding achievements here at Dexter!!




HS REGIONALS: Spartan Baseball will play Tuesday, May 15 at West Elk against Yates Center approximately 3:30pm.
Lady Spartan Softball will play Monday, May 14 at Central-Burden against Central-Burden starting at 5:00pm.
