6th grade students have worked for the last month on constructing a Spider Meccanoid that walks, chases you, and even squirts venom (water) on its prey. They will program it to respond to voice commands in the upcoming weeks.
LAST WEEK: After a busy week, the 6th grade class ended with a thrilling Thursday by creating Bristlebots! First, students designed their robots with tiny motors, batteries, toothbrushes and pipe cleaners. They had to troubleshoot ways to make them work, go faster and slower. Finally, they used the vibrating creatures to paint Halloween Robot Abstract Art pieces to display in the halls. "Nailed it!"

YESTERDAY: There was an All-League meeting, we had two Lady Spartans make the list; Reagan Warburton, Second-Team and Riley Ferguson, Honorable Mention. Great Job and to all our Lady Spartans this season!!
The 4th graders have been learning about the different types of rocks, weathering, erosion, and deposition in science. Yesterday we were able to walk out to Grouse Creek and search for the types of rocks, and also see where weathering, erosion, and deposition have occurred! It was a great afternoon of exploring!
Mark your calendars: The Freshman class is hosting a Powder Puff Football game on Nov. 1. The game will be at 6:30pm and Admission to this event is a canned good. See attachment for all other details.

THURSDAY: HS Spartan Football play their first round of the State Championship. They will travel to Coldwater-South Central High School and kick off will be at 6:00pm.
TODAY: MS Basketball practice will start today. Students must have a physical on file to practice. The boys will practice in CV this week.
🏈🏈TOMORROW: HS Spartan Football have a big game against the Central-Burden Raiders at Dexter. It’s also Senior Night. To get the crowd pumped for the game, we are having a 💖 PINK OUT 💖!! There will also be a tailgate 🌭, and Spirit tattoos!! We need everyone to come out and support our SPARTANS!! LET’S GO BLACK AND GOLD!!🏈🏈
TODAY: A few students went to Southwestern to participate in KICC, Kids Impacting Cowley County. This is a service learning project through the Legacy Foundation. These students were learning about how to positively impact their community and school.

October 8th-12th is National Fire Prevention Week. Along with classroom instruction, Dexter Fireman, Brian Kuntz, spoke with elementary students this morning about the importance of fire safety at home and at school. Thank you Mr. Kuntz for sharing your time with our students! We appreciate all our volunteer firefighters and their work in our community!
