THURSDAY: HS Spartan Football play their first round of the State Championship. They will travel to Coldwater-South Central High School and kick off will be at 6:00pm.
TODAY: MS Basketball practice will start today. Students must have a physical on file to practice. The boys will practice in CV this week.

TODAY: A few students went to Southwestern to participate in KICC, Kids Impacting Cowley County. This is a service learning project through the Legacy Foundation. These students were learning about how to positively impact their community and school.

October 8th-12th is National Fire Prevention Week. Along with classroom instruction, Dexter Fireman, Brian Kuntz, spoke with elementary students this morning about the importance of fire safety at home and at school. Thank you Mr. Kuntz for sharing your time with our students! We appreciate all our volunteer firefighters and their work in our community!

SATURDAY: MS Lady Spartans Volleyball are hosting their SCBL Volleyball tournament at Dexter. They are projected to be the 5th seed but they won't know officially until after tomorrow night. The attachment has the schedule and the times are approximate.

TOMORROW: There will be a, CV Junior Class sponsored, tailgate party prior to the game in the parking lot by the arena. They will be serving sloppy joes if anyone is interested in eating.
TOMORROW: HS Spartan Football will host the West Elk Patriots at Cedar Vale. Kick off is at 7:00pm. It's also Cedar Vale's Homecoming, the ceremony will take play at halftime. GOOD LUCK!! GO SPARTANS!!

We are proud to announce, recently our PE department was approved for the Legacy Regional Community Foundation "Active Play Matching Grant."
The outline of this grant is to help address the health of the children in your elementary school. The purpose of this initiative is to enhance built environment and/or equipment purchase that provide and promote schoolchildren to be more physically active in order to address the rising rate of obesity in our area. The vision is to provide a space for public elementary schoolchildren in Cowley County to enjoy vigorous exercise through organized games and unstructured play before, during and after the school day. This grant is a 1:1 matching opportunity up to $2,000.
A Special Thank you to the Legacy Foundation for approving this grant and to our Administration and school board for matching it! Our students will really benefit from the equipment being purchased through this grant! Thank you!!
