Principal's Page - Mr. Robert Holmes

Welcome to our schools! We value all our students, teachers, and staff. Our students score well above the state averages in Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Writing through the dedication of our teachers and staff who will not allow a student to fail unless they give it their full effort. We are proud to have a hard working and stable staff who give our students the best one-on-one attention possible in a caring environment with great facilities. Our board of education gives us the resources needed to be as great as we have become over many decades and continually upgrade our curriculum and technology to give our students the best resources available in a public school possible.

I have enjoyed being a part of the school and community having raised two daughters with my wife Laurie. Both girls graduated from college due to having great teachers growing up and attending their school years in Dexter. Our schools continue to improve through the help and support of parents, family members, district patrons, staff, board of education, and students. I grew up in Garden City graduating from high school and junior college there. After receiving my degree from Fort Hays State I was fortunate to get my first teaching job in the same building I student taught. After obtaining my Master's from Fort Hays in 1994, we moved to Dexter and I became 7-12 principal and now serve as K-12 principal and athletic director.

Dexter holds high expectations for our students and will help them succeed in any manner they choose to succeed. A student really has to try hard not to become successful due to the care and work of our teachers and staff. We have combined most all of our sports teams with Cedar Vale to give the students an opportunity for league, regional, state championships. While maintaining our red, white, and black Dexter Cardinals identity we have formed a unique and tight bond with our friends and neighbors to the east to become the gold and black Spartans. We are looking forward to a great year in 2012-2013.
